This was exactly what is was looking for! Does this DHT22 sensor work in parasite mode? Another tutorial I've seen adds power from the board to the data line with 4.7K Ohm resistor between.

Where would install this in a room, I was planning on monitoring the room temperature so the system could turn on the ac automatically when the temperature goes above a threshold.

apparently the DHT22 doesnt work with HA anymore, I've got one and cant get it to work. Reasing saying DHT isnt supported anymore
