Hey Guys and girls, hope you're all keeping well. Here's a review a lot of people have asked for, its the Club Jam vintage drum kit from Tama. I've have the drum kit for 3 years so i know the good and the bad points about the Tama club jam kit. I do a full review with sound samples so you can hear what its like before you buy the drum kit. The Tama Club Jam Vintage kit comes in different finishes a but keeps the same configuration. Hope you enjoy the review and hope it helps, be nice to each other chat to you soon. Brendan

I've had this kit for about 2 years and it has worked well enough for me on jazz, funk and R&B gigs in medium high and high tunings, a highlight is the portability for the hardworking drummer it gives you that old school sound and the look, I consider that the snare is the weak point of the kit and I agree that the arm that goes in the bass drum could have a little more height. Finally if you are considering buying it also save for some good drumheads for me it has worked with Aquarian Modern vintage medium on the toms if you are looking for an open and warm sound like old school and Aquarian superkick 2 on the kick drum for a controlled sound and with a lot of punch.
I give it an 8/10

Just get a good hihat and a good 13x7 or 14” snare and that kit will sound amazing!!! I got Emad2 on the bass drum and it’s amazing!!! Ec2 on the toms!!! That’s it ...

Just bought one of these, same colour too. Because I saw your video, when I got the kit, I went round and tightened up every nut, before changing the heads.
I also put two nylon washers on each lug, and it holds tune perfectly.
I put a new snare side skin on (code 5 mil) and a new snare wire by code too, with a Evans UV1 on the snare batter, with Evans G2 on top and G1 on bottom of the toms and an Evans EMAD on the kick.
I think it sounds as good as it can now, like you said‘it’s not the best sounding kit in the world, but it’s compact and portable, and that’s what I bought it for.
Thanks for your honest advice, it helped me a lot.

Hey man,

Thanks for the honest review! I came into this set a few weeks ago, have been breaking it in with the knowledge that i may not ever be 100% satisfied with the sound. I'm experimenting with what I can do to get it into decent small studio shape. This review was completely fair on all the positives and negatives that I've found. And helpful!

Maybe the best review. Says all what its needed, its interesting and we get an overall idea of the drum kit. Perfect!

This kit would’ve looked so much better if they would’ve continued with the wood hoops they have on the bass drum but put them on all of the drums & have claw styled lugs. That would’ve, to me, sealed the deal. But i dont know that’s just me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'm just looking for an easy little gigging kit when doing acoustic jams so I think this would be perfect for it. No recordings intended with it.

Sometimes if you change the heads it could make a huge difference in the sound of the drum set overall! Thanks for sharing this video!

This inspired me to create my own version. The fusion-sized toms are great, but the kick is worthless as most that size.
So I cut a 22x14 to a 22x8 & it makes up for the loss of punch and boom of this 18x12 joke of a kick.

Great review. I noticed you didn’t hit that crash/ride very hard. Does the kick mounted clamp have a torque limit?

Nice playing. Very rythmic and not over complicated. Kit sounds great 👍

Love this kit. Just got one. Man what do you think of the cymbal mount on the kick tho? I can find a good cymbal to put there… too low for my ride

I've been thinking about buying this kit as my practice kit and if we're playing with another band and they have to loan my kit, I'd pack this with me. Does the floor tom fit inside the bass drum and rack tom into the floor tom? Trying to save some space when packing our car. I've been playing with Tama Cocktail Kit for a couple years, far more expensive and experimental than this, but fun to mess around. It can really sound like a real kit when tuned and mic'd right. I'm not a fan of reso heads so it compliments my playing style. Have you played that kit? I mostly play country/folk stuff so small kits are my loved ones. Loved this review, gotta watch more your stuff, man!

Thanks for the great review. Could you please describe the cymbal filter? Is it gearless? Thanks.

Hey man, that was a beautiful review. I'm looking for some compact kit, due to extreme lack of space in my garage. Could you please tell me, how big/wide is that carpet on 5:00 in foot prints? Or, how many foot prints does the whole kit takes including the throne?
I'll have to buy kit online, so I don't have any chance of seeing it alive.
Your answer would help a bunch! :) Thanks 🙂
