Color coordinated stem grips decals and shift cables really bring a bike together and don’t cost all that much

I was surprised to have had 3 years of excellent service from clear contact vinyl. The same stuff used for drawers and shelves. I had the roll of clear because it was the cheapest way to laminate paper maps for Adventure Racing. For our MTB bikes I cut strips and installed under down tube, on top of top tube, and along right chain stay. Practically invisible for nearly 3 years. When edges began to curl I pulled it off and still had brand new paint underneath without any sticky residue. All of the damage and discoloration on the chain stay was on the vinyl. I've cut and applied new strips from that same old roll and the bikes look nearly new again.

I still love my old orbea hardtail 29er. Mostly because I can ride it anywhere. Meaning it's a 3 x 10, so I can blast downhill city streets like a road bike but still climb anything at the same time. It's like two bikes in one, with a second wheelset, with skinnier street tires. Nice article...

Getting educated is the best advise ever... understand your weapon, keep it sweet and it’ll look after you

stole my bike-buddy's old tire to cut it into a perfectly fitting down-tube-protector along with reusable velcro stripes. might also use it to temporary protect the the lower fork legs when going for an extremely rocky rough ride 🤙🏼

A timely reminder how to look after the bike we have. GMBN Tech is my goto maintenance and how to channel, cheers Doddie.

I spray the bike with GT85 as it drys and protects from mud and make it easier to clean after a ride. But of course make sure you don’t get it on things like breaks, tyres etc.

The best and most obvious free upgrades are of course practice and exercise, upgrade yourself and the bike won't matter
