This is a movie that really didn't need a re-make. How can you top John Wayne's Oscar-winning performance, or this beautiful song by the great Glen Campbell? Wonderful!

I battle the tears every time I hear Glen singing this. I loved him as if he was my own brother. This song is my most favorite of voice blends most beautifully with the instrumental orchestration like no other he ever recorded. The song (and film) brings back very special memories....and I miss Glen so very much!!

AHH Shucks does that Song bring back Memeorable Memories of that Time in My Life.
Although I wasn't a Big Fan of Glen Campbell at that Time. My Older Sister had a Very Tremendous Crush on Him in Those years. She had everyone of His Album's, so I'd Hear His Great Singing a lot growing up.
The Bueatiful Harmony of that Song & His Voice was just So Perfect for That Film and the Scenery. That Not even I could Hold Back My Tears whenever I'd Hear it. Thank You for Sharing it Again.
May Glen Campbell & The Duke, RIP Under the Loving Protection of Our Lord God 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍.

Give me that America I had back in '69-a country of greatness, greatest actors and singers! God save this great nation! We were blessed with John Wayne and Glenn Campbell gracing the movie & recording studios, when it came to human contributions! Two pillars of immense talent!

This song reminds me of an amazing woman that just died 3 weeks ago. She was my best friend, and though not blood, was a mother to me for 10 years. She was an amazing lady...all lady....but strong and independent. She kept me sane thru the worst 5 years of my life. I ache for you, dear Kathleen, and can NEVER thank you enough! I found my woman of True Grit! Love you, Mom.

This was my father’s favorite movie. We watched it so much the taped eventually quit working. I fight back tears everytime I watch it. I can hear him quote the movie as It plays. Heat every laugh, and everytime he got choked up. Come see a fat old man sometime, he’d say.

I'm going to look for this movie. Glen's voice is spectacular. He's the musical artist, who owns his songs. And no one else can come close to his voice.

I know that I am sticking my neck out saying this but I feel it deep down inside and the moment is magnificent. While the music is playing the scene where John Wayne and Glen Campbell first arrive to catch the ferry is something. That something is one of the most seemingly trivial of scenes. But when the horse stick their heads over the ridge and the Duke and Glen appear, pause stop and look around and slowly turn and ride down to the ferry .Well John Wayne for a few brief moments has one of the most dignified and majestic moments in his long illustrious career. He and Glen are everything that is the most moving and unforgettable sights in all Hollywod movies. He is thoughtful, serene, and natural. It is ingrained in my memory. In this fleeting minor moment he is heroic. In the most beautifully westren moments. His whole career is genuine and valid and so worth it. Devastating.
