My wonderful wife passed away very unexpectedly a few months ago without either of us having a chance to say good-bye. It ripped my heart out to lose her. My therapist suggested that I write a letter to her, telling her what I would have said if we did have a chance to say good-bye. I did, and it helped from that perspective. Then recently "Babe" came on the radio and it hit me between the eyes. This song, in so many ways, seemed to me to be her way of saying good-bye to me. Now I play it several times a week and let the tears flow down my cheeks. Bye, babe.

This song meant the most to me twice in my life. The first time, was about 15 years (and 3 children) after we eloped to get married, my wife wanted to separate because she missed her 20’s as a single girl. We never really parted and it lasted about 3 months. She came back to me and all was forgiven. We stayed married and in love 53 years. Soon after that, in February 2019, she died from cancer. And that was the second time this song had a significant meaning to me. “I miss you, Babe.”
