Bent Rail BNSF Oil Train Meets CSX Train Dunkirk, NY

Bent Rail BNSF Oil Train Meets CSX Train. On July 26, 2014 I was out Trainspotting to film some trains at a CSX Railroad crossing in Dunkirk NY. I saw that a train was coming. So when I turned the camera on and started filming I noticed another train coming in the other direction. So when i started filming and zoomed in I saw the rail was bent and at first it looked like the actual tracks were bent and that there would be a derailment! Luckily that wasn't the case it was a rail that a MOW crew dropped off at an earlier date. So both trains met at the Railroad Crossing and it was a really cool train meet as you can see when you watch this Action Packed Train Video.

A cool side note about this location:

The old ALCO Locomotive Dunkirk Works is juts a mile from this spot, it still stands and is the last of the ALCO plants that are still around, here is a video of it

Update! The old ALCO plant was just razed, work started in July 2018 to tear it down and they are completing that process as of 10/31/18.

Newest Update: 11/21/19 The new Ice cream Storage Freezer has been completed at the site of the former Brooks ALCO Locomotive plant

About 20-25 years ago I was walking near the rails where I lived at the time and saw that rail crews were scraping the old rails that they had taken off. I asked the man there who was cutting the rails up into smaller sections if could I get a section so, he cut a section out and gave it to me. I walked it all the way home carrying it in a couple of bags. I used it as an anvil.
