Показать описание
On 21 May 2024, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) issued its advisory opinion in Case No. 31 (Advisory Opinion), clarifying States’ obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) to tackle the climate crisis and protect the marine environment from climate harm caused by greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
This joint webinar from Opportunity Green and Cornerstone Barristers outlines key legal findings from the Advisory Opinion, and its implications for the global shipping and aviation sectors, which account for 2.89% of global GHG emissions and 2.5% of annual global CO2 emissions (and 4% of all global warming) respectively.
Speakers include: Estelle Dehon KC (Cornerstone Barristers), David Kay (Legal Director, Opportunity Green) and Isabela Keuschnigg (Legal Officer, Opportunity Green)
