"Voicing everything that’s on your mind on Twitter isn’t always the best idea. On Friday, comedian Josh Denny was dragged by Twitter users for comparing the N-word to the phrase “straight white male,” and for good reason. The two terms are hardly comparable.

He tweeted, “‘Straight White Male’ has become this century’s N-Word. It’s used to offend and diminish the recipient based on assumption and bias. No difference in the usage.”

Hosts: Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian

Thank you TYT for turning me into a conservative. It’s something I never thought would happen in my entire life. It only took about a week and half of watching you guys. Thanks

When you’re at the top of society, any bit equality feels like oppression. You don’t lose rights because I gain them.

Wait...so pulling the Race Card is okay now?

Dude is completely right. We’ve all been so brainwashed that instead of thinking about what he said we all just immediately have a knee jerk reaction based on what we’re used to.

"White racist, " "Black thug, " "Islamic terrorist" and other such expressions are conflated to ensure that the first word becomes interchangeable with the second. All of these expressions serve the purpose of helping to confirm bias, perpetuate bigotry and strengthen prejudice towards innocent people.

Straight white Male is an accurate description not a racial slur so...

It's not equivalent in terms of ferocity and vitriol, but disregarding someone's viewpoint based on race is racist. Whether they are white, black, asian etc.

Solution: News, stop pushing identity politics.

Racism and persecution is the same no matter what color skin the victim may have.

I don't think he's in anyway way comparing his situation to the situation of African Americans throughout history. He's comparing the modern use of the phrase "straight white male" as a derogatory term just like the N word is a modern derogatory term. It's not a competition to see who is more discriminated against. He's merely pointing out a phenomena that is being spread by certain institutions. To be criticized for bringing a discourse about it is a pretty big step in the wrong direction.

He is not saying its equivalent, he is saying it is the new version of it. I second this motion.

Why does everything have to be about race? Everyone always says "look past the color of skin" yet constantly brings up the race of someone. Everyone wants to be treated equal, yet can't stop talking about skin color. This channel is a main hub for racists. I've never seen so many people obsessed with the color of someone's skin like this channel's viewers. Want proof? Go to any video about a crime being committed on TYT and I guarantee at least 1 top comment will say something like "sounds about white" or "black thug". Both sides are guilty of it.

You just said it ana. Treating a human being unfairly, because of their race, is the exact definition of persecution. Unlike this guy, not every white man who points out this very real persecution, equates it with slavery or lynchings. Is discrimination ok in small doses?

And yet the straight white male is the most successful member of society and the most sought after men for dating and relationships

The point is that people point this out everyday, and people like you ignore it. It took a TV host making a hyperbolic statement for someone like you to actually acknowledge and address it.

Did... did he just pull the race card?

Anna: "I don't want to put words in his mouth". Goes on to put words in his mouth for 4 minutes. Bravo.

100% totally agree with Josh. Could not have said it any better. I thought Chunk and Ana were going to cry or explode as the smoke could be seen coming from their ears.

As a SWM, the only shame I feel in hearing that phrase is when it’s associated with another school shooting and instead of a terrorist he’s got mental health issues.

By making that hyperbolic statement, he got people to talk about his point. If he just stated his assertion, no one would care because he's a SWM.
