Reaching agreement on the meaning and ‘spirit’ of the Treaty of Waitangi - New Zealand’s founding document - has led to fierce debate and violent conflict between European settlers and Maoris since its signing in 1840 until the present day. This documentary style program looks at events leading up to the signing, consequences of the signing, the key points of difference in the two versions of the treaty, the treaty in the twentieth century, and the founding of the Waitangi Tribunal.

"Much remains about its meaning and interpretation" Bur what is the difference between "meaning" and "interpretation"?

Great video but too short. This only begins to scratch the surface.

The Treaty of Waitangi was set out on Patuone two dog skins. All Treaty Principles was printed on Patuone two dog skins and signed. A young Native Boy was offered to Queen Victoria to raise and take care of as a living honour Between Queen Victoria and The Natives.

When we are talking about nativity … and about all these other derivatives of that word native, Maori or Aboriginal for example, ... all those other connotations of the PERSON … are referring to the nativity of the birth of the person. NATIVITY OF THE PERSON <== WHAT IS THAT ???
When you are referring to a term Maori you will find out that it was not in the 1835 Declaration of Independence : He Wakaputanga 1835 … you will find that this word Maori come out of blue to become placed in the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 ... that was not actually made to benefit the Original Aotheroa people … but for the British Subjects/ servants. So The word Maori means the British Subject. British subject is a servant slave. So Maori is like a legal construct. It is just another native title for nativity of the birth of the person … and all its fiction derived derivatives that are operating in the name. /// Hm, since we all are initially registered into legal system under the B/C name we must be ruled / administered form New Zealand due to international commercial time line that rules the Law and Commerce . So there is more than great possibility that if we are using B/C name as our identity that we are seen as Maori / British Subject. International commercial time line starts in New Zealand and by Doctrine of Discovery: "First in time is best in law / most powerful in Law!!! "What is tricky is that Originals in Australia are refereed in treaties as Aboriginal natives. Synonyms & Antonyms for aborigine:
aboriginal, autochthon, indigene (also indigen), ==> native <== Check www.legislation.govt.nz ... Maori Purposes Act 1947; ALTERATION of the term native into ==> Maori <==
Part 1 Alteration of term Native to Maori
2 Alteration of term Native to Maori
(1)Except as otherwise provided by this Act, all references to a Native in any Act, regulation, rule, bylaw, order, or other enactment, or in any contract, agreement, deed, instrument, application, licence, notice, or other document whatsoever, shall, unless inconsistent with the context, be hereafter read as references to a Maori.
(2)Except as otherwise provided by this Act, wherever the term ==> Native <== appears in any Act, regulation, rule, bylaw, order, or other enactment, or in any contract, agreement, deed, instrument, application, licence, notice, or other document as descriptive of any person, body, corporation, office, purpose, land, building, reserve, or place, that term shall, unless inconsistent with the context of the enactment or document, be hereafter read as the term Maori. So yea, everyone is fighting for the native title ... while there it is called Maori Title. They consolidated all these terms to one word ==> Maori<== controlled from one source of control.
So everyone that is using the name is a Maori. ... and they have all districts, territories and colonies under the word New Zealand.

The Treaty of Waitangi
Dear Sir,
Thankyou for the info on the Treaty of Waitangi. This document is unique in its identity as it is enacted in NewZealand, a Pacific nation, even in the current and holds content in the transactions in land with the European arrivals as far back as the mid 1800s. The questions are in the conditions for land use and the land use practices for agriculture.
Wish the Treaty of Waitangi to be with us into the future.
Greetings.

While traveling through New zealand in January 2023 I stopped in Waitangi. A really really fat maori woman walked up to me and gave me a piece of paper. On it was written "wirp the nirp. girp the chirp. wirpy nirp girp girp chirp." Then she walked away. It was really wierd. Can anyone tell me what that was all about?
