In the powerful visualizer for Walk on Water, Drew Ryn share's through music her personal journey through the challenges of cyberbullying she faced when she first entered the public eye at just 14 years old. The song reflects on her early struggles—facing online hate and feeling isolated in the spotlight—but it’s also a story of resilience and growth. Through hard work, and perseverance, Drew has not only overcome these hardships, but she’s thrived, making major career strides like being featured on Billboard and touring the country sharing her story about cyberbullying in over 200 locations.

As the video unfolds, Drew transforms from that vulnerable girl overwhelmed by negativity to the confident artist and advocate she is today. She now uses her platform to create a space where others who have felt marginalized or bullied can belong—lifting up those who feel alone and showing them that they too can rise above. Walk on Water is more than just a song—it's a message of empowerment, unity, and the strength that comes from believing in yourself.

I went through so much hurt when I was younger that it effects me even today. When I was thirteen I was pulled out of school because my spirit had been broken so badly that I fell into a world of gloom. I was hurt by other people, emotionally and physically, time and time again. I was humiliated, taunted and rejected, which just added to all the other scars I had. I became withdrawn, yet creative. I lived in my own imagination, by myself mostly, at least until much later. (What was my point? I don't know. I think I'm loosing myself in traumatic reflection.) To deal with emotions I could not express I watched movies and listened to music that helped me channel and process that deep heartache. I remember when the movie “Dream Warriors” came out and somehow I hid myself within it. That movie, about a bunch of teenagers who were being tormented by cruelty itself, became a mechanism for catharsis. The character Nancy was my hero at that point and when she died I went home cried. I didn't have anyone to save me. (What was my point? Now I'm just drifting.) Anyway my teenage years were filled with despair and those feelings came out in my creativity. I think I was a sadness enthusiast for a long time and probably many times during my life... (alright now to the point.) I was moved by your song and other songs you've had. When you performed “It must have been love” so many years ago in such an authentic voice, I felt it. The same for “What a feeling.” It tapped into my insecurity and loneliness. It brought me back to the very core of myself. The song “Illuminate Me” was another emotional journey. It took me to another time and place, where I wanted so much to reach out to someone, but I built walls to protect myself and was fading away. I couldn't find a voice to call out. I couldn't remember how to speak Then someone shined a light on me and suddenly I was real again. The hurt from when I was younger, the hurt from when I was older, the feelings of failing and the endless questioning of what was it all for, can haunt me. Other people will see your video, hear this song and find themselves once again. The world is filled with people who are hurting, who need to know that they are not alone. Someone asked me once, what was the purpose of my creativity and my response was “to help people feel.” Creative people have the ability to say the words and express the feelings that other people can't. Some people need help getting into that inward space to process those emotions. And the people who strike out at others, demeaning them, well they're emotionally blocked and are suffering in solitude. You may not be able to help everyone but you are going to help many.

Whatever you did in the American Idol audition performance of this song -- keep doing that! It was so emotional and glorious. I especially liked the vocal climb towards the end where you sang, "I would have faced the damage but I was too hurt to know..." And the whispering ending, "cuz I'm burning through all that I've got..." -- so perfect!

One of the best original songs I’ve heard in a while. Been stuck in my head since I first heard it, but now on my 514th listen my neighbors are begging me to stop singing it in the shower.
