CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said Friday that the OMICRON variant will become the dominant COVID-19 variant in the United States "in the coming weeks." Walensky also said that the new variant has been found among both vaccinated and boosted individuals, but said she believes the cases are "milder or asymptomatic because of vaccine protection."
