Priority Ace Belt Drive Fixie/Single Speed Bicycle | Ace of Spades

In this video I review the Priority Ace: Ace of Spades bicycle. The Priority Ace is a new bike that features a Gates Carbon Drive belt drive, a flip flop hub so it can be either a single speed or a fixie, and two different trim levels: Ace of Clubs and Ace of Spades. There are a few small difference between the two models, notably the Ace of Spades has a Carbon fork and Carbon seat post and weights 22lbs vs the 24lbs of the Ace of Clubs. This is my first time with a belt drive single speed that wasn't an eBike.

I’m 54 and use a single speed as a “last mile” transit piece and even use it on the greenway, I love the simplicity and ease of use. Keep in mind just how many hills are around you, but don’t rule out a single speed because you have some hills near you.

Cool looking bike, but single speed is rough on us older guys! Great video again Kev....

“I keep touching them”

I love your honesty, it made me laugh without you trying to be funny.

I’m a true mountain biker but for some reason this bike is the only street bike that I actually kinda want to buy

I love Priority bikes! I wish I could own them all. Currently I own a Priority 600, which is a fantastic bike!

I bought a single speed last year with a flip-flop hub, got it cheap, bought it on a whim. Rode it, hated it thought Nah not for me, put new tubes in it and slick tyres, and did that change the beast! Now, if I need to put a smile on my face, I take that one out for a ride and have to confess I love it now.

I live in south FLA..flat as a table so my single speed is perfect. I’ll look into this bike with the carbon belt...thx Ken.

I own one single speed--not a fixed gear--and I was surprised when I first got it at how much fun it turned out to be to just ride and not think about gears.

I love my fixie. It's cheap heavy steel, maybe one step above a Walmart fixie, but I love it for fun city rides with the family. I better not try this Priority because it's 12 pounds lighter and I will love it and start trying to race everyone.

if you do flip the hub around and use it in the fixed gear mode, make sure you use some kind of foot retention, ie straps or clips. it really makes all the difference

I have built up a couple of single speeds, road and mtb and I was surprised by the weight, they are light. With the right gear for your area they make a lot of sense. That carbon drive is the cherry on the top😍,

Great bike Kev! Priority is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands. The Alabama test you put this one through furthers my admiration.
My first road bike was aluminum with a carbon fork. The carbon fork really does a great job of taking the sting out of the road.

Try climbing that hill with that bike on the fixed mode, you'll see that it gets easier, even with the same gear ratio. I used to commute on a fixie and when I switched to single speed on the same bike I realized that it makes a difference.

Those ribs on the grips reminds me of my old school ODI John Tomacs.

I'm impressed. I've been a fan of Priority but never would have considered a single speed. I still won't, but at least I won't laugh at them anymore. That's a really good bike at a great price.

I have ridden just about everything at some point. Even in my peak shape (riding up to 100 miles in a day), I had great respect for people that could ride a fixie. I could ride a fixie but not for any distance & never felt comfortable in NYC traffic. Now I have to pay respect to even single speed riders.
Even though the Ace isn't for me it's a stellar bike. If Priority ever puts out a bike that isn't stellar I may die of shock;)
I hope when the Pandemic is over to ride to 174 Hudson (I'm about 15 miles away) and see some Priority bikes in person. They have a couple of bikes I aspire to but I can't fork over that kind of money without some personal idea of what I'm getting.

I bought this exact bike 3 weeks ago. I commute and work as a delivery biker. One of the few things I might change soon is dropping down a tooth size on the rear cog as I live in relatively flat Murfreesboro TN.

$499 for the base model is pretty competitive for the category, though you trade (any) gears for the belt drive (Compare the Vilano Diverse 3.0 - 3x8 w/ disc brakes). Great candidate for a zippy, 0-effort ride IF you're in a flat city. I know Priority has other commuter-focused bikes if you're planning to rack & fender, but I'd still be interested to know if this has mounts.

You should try out the Priority Apollo Gravel, I'm thinking of getting it if my family moves more rural and I want your opinion on it
