GoPro Karma vs DJI Mavic REAL flight Camera Test - Side by Side

Both of these cameras are set to 4K resolution, 30 frames per second, and each camera has the same bit-rate, interestingly enough. 60Mbs. The footage you see from the cameras is the EXACT same as it was filmed. It has not been edited, or downsized or stabilized. 4K is 4K, and that is how I will present the footage.

Let me know what you think! Which camera wins? Let me know in the comments!!! What is the best drone of 2016? What drone do you want for Christmas?

That synchronized take off is what dreams are made of.

The dynamic range of the Mavic is much better. Colors can be tweaked of either drone, but more detail can't be added

The stabilisation on the Karma is insane

GoPro's camera is better for sure, but, the Mavic is a MUCH better drone. GoPro should stick with cameras and sell them to drone makers combining two products to make a perfect singular product. Plus, all of the GoPro Karmas just got recalled.

I love how stable the Karma is! Insane! Super smooth. As far as picture quality there are some I like of mavic better and some of dji I like better. Hard to say

Karma looks more natural in terms of color but overall the image is a bit soft. Where as the Mavic's colors are all over the place but the sharpness is better although you could argue that the Mavic is sharpening the image way too much.
Overall the video of the Karma pleases my eye more.

The GoPro camera looks more natural. The Mavic has a lot of sharpening going on.

I'd definitely go with for the Mavic. Autofocus, less distortion with its more normal field of view, better portability and much better battery life.

I gotta say the GoPro did a better job. The color temperature was on point with the GoPro were as the Mavic's color temperature was very cool. The overall picture quality looked better with the GoPro.

Karma was better. The Mavic's image was way too blue..

Good comparison. Make more like these plz.

I prefer the wide angel lens of the GoPro but I prefer the actual mavic drone and its features. I wondered forever why they did not do a wider angel lens on the mavic similar to the phantom 4 and then it clicked.

If they had any wider of a lens set up you would see the front feet and props in your shots.

Is the DJI a better camera or just doing more processing to the image so I think it's a better camera? I can't tell, but I am leaning far towards the DJI..

The stabilization on the Karma is fantastic!

Not sure if this is just because of the operator but I love how the GoPro Karma video looked. Very smooth and more natural color pallet. The Mavic has a bit too much over saturation that makes it look not so natural. Great vid guys!

Excellent comparison video, I've been on the fence but now I'm sold on the Karma

I really loved the Maviks colors but god damn GoPro really knows how to make silky smooth video with a giant wide angle shot!!

DJI MAVIC has some kind of high-pass filter applied or something like that, it has a clearly visible halo, which is not good at all since you can't fix it in post...
So in my opinion Karma is better.

DJI seemed to have a crisper image with finer detail and a broader color palette. The GoPro seemed to lack definition and have a yellow cast. I'd choose the DJI regardless of any price difference, the quality was that much better to me. Great comparison and both seemed like a blast to operate.

IMO (as a GoPro-lover), I like the Mavic ones better, due to the fact that the darker areas seems more dark and the lighter one really shines. I guess thats called range in professional terms. Both cameras are good I know that much but I really like Mavic camera better in a sense for post-edit. Great video! (thumbs up)

I'm not sure if I really like how the Mavic Pro ramps up those blue colors, but between it's blue haze kinda looks and the Karma's tendency to pull more towards yellow, red and earth tones, I think I still prefer Mavic Pro's take.

1:00 - there's more color separation and resolution when you look at scenery that is more or less uniform, despite the blue haze - see how many different types of trees and bushes you can identify in both images;

2:42 - you can see more detail on that wooden fence and the peeble ground here with the DJI, as well as bushes and grass on the back.

You can see that neither are exactly the same as the shots taken with other cameras (static ones - was it a GH4?), but it just looks to me that the DJI gets closer.

I guess I'd prefer using the dehaze tool for the Mavic Pro images rather than trying to bring up Karma colors overall... but I guess in both cases things could get better by switching profiles?

Fisheye really depends on usage... it's great to take wide panoramic shots, but for movement I'd rather go without the distortion. Not sure how well the in-camera correction on the Hero and Session 5 works, so I guess it kinda depends. But you know... fisheye lenses always tends to lose resolution in borders, so I'd stride on the safe side.

One important thing you didn't mention Zack and Jared, is what camera you guys are using on the Karma. Hero 5?

Outside images though, I guess I'd just go for the Mavic Pro... it's smaller, DJI has more experience on hardware and software, and the drone just looks more solid and well built for me personally. Losing the grip thing and the ability to replace the camera with future GoPro versions, and it's not that I think the Karma is bad in itself, but you know.
