Childers says she doesn't have a degree in anything, but who cares? She really knows what she's talking about, really informative, intelligent, interesting, and even more articulate than many other speakers.

26 out of 27 books in the NT warns directly against false teachers and false teaching...

Childers is on the money when she brought up how Christian parents should handle this with their children. I am a skeptic who has tried opening up about my doubting to my parents and was attacked by truth claims, rather than openness and wanting to search for answers together.

Definitely would love to see Ms. Childers back on the show. Great stuff.

"If you don't believe the Gospels you just believe yourself" - Augustine

Pretty ironic statement from the early church's most allegory- focused Bible teacher.

"They rebel against an experience they had in their early church life."
The one-man pastor show is simply bearing its rotten fruit.

This is reminds me a lot of the path that Christianity Today has gone down.

Alisa's theology is solid and her biblical foundation is built on the Chief Cornerstone.

I find that “progressive” minded people do exactly the same thing to the US Constitution as well.

I am politically progressive, but this version of Christianity makes absolutely no sense. The entire point of Christianity is the resurrection. I understand certain re-interpretations of the homosexual question / genesis etc, , but the resurrection is the linchpin. I don’t know why you’d want to mess with it anyway as the historical evidence for it is incredibly strong.

I was just asking God about what Ezekiel 14 meant. I've felt directed toward the chapter for the past few weeks, but I couldn't quite understand it. I couldn't comprehend WHY people who'd rejected God and began worshiping idols and celebrating their iniquity, would then come to inquire of God. I didn't get that. Now, I think I'm beginning to. It's like one part self-delusion, two parts self-elevation. But...for the people in that chapter, it didn't exactly end well.

If we simply preached sound doctrine it would clean out any liberals in the Church.
The Church is focusing too much on negative apologetics.
We need to do more positive apologetics to edify believers and to give a reason for the hope this is within us.
And that starts with me.

RE: Gungor, If he was experimenting w/ pagan theology, IMO, he was likely never a Christian.

Is deconstructing the new way to say: lost the faith? (if they had it in the first place)

The title is a bit misleading. I clicked assuming that I was going to learn whether the progressive church could be won back to Christ.

Any compromise, omission or outright rejection of the word of God is not Christianity. Christianity is submission to the Lordship and authority of God over our lives and all things. In short, if anyone disagrees with God, they're wrong.
"Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: “That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged.” Romans 3:4

Great episode. I just looked up the combined net worth of Rhett and Link, which is $16 million. I also see they're still married. I can only suspect Proverbs 26:12 is instructive here: "Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them." With money can come pride and the fall, if one isn't careful.
