This year has been turbulent for Pakistan. New schisms & reconfigurations have emerged between Pakistan’s military and sections of the civilian political elite, in a context marked by populist mobilisation. Beyond elite power tussles, how can we understand the present crisis of political authority? What are the sociological roots of resurgent authoritarianism and populism; and what are the possibilities for democratic struggles afforded by the current moment?

*South Asia has now become defunct!*
It is now known as the Indian Sub-continent which is part of the larger Indo-Pacific region.
*Pakistan is now part of the AfPak region!*
It is a much better idea to have soft borders between Pakistan & Afghanistan for more people to people exchange with a *common curriculum in Madrassas on both sides* to foster a common Jihadi culture...
