I'm Aaron Dwyer, a Broker-Owner of EXIT Realty Lake Country. I got into real estate in 2005 after a 12-year career as a police officer for the Metro Nashville Police Department. Right before I left the police department I started flipping houses. As part of that process, I wanted to control how that final flip was placed on the market and how those sales took place. I went to real estate school at night, got my real estate license and joined a local ReMax office in Brentwood, TN.

Like most agents, when I started my career in real estate I did it part-time. Coming from the police department with a steady paycheck and moving to a commission-only career with a wife and kids was a tough pill to swallow. Along with buying and selling real estate, I also sold ReMax franchises. I loved being able to set up a broker with a new office so they could better provide for their families.

When I made the transition to EXIT, the main thing I noticed is that each individual agent is given full attention by their broker- they are not just a number. At EXIT, we care about developing agents, providing learning opportunities, and making them the best version of themselves. I tell my real estate agents, "If you give me 12months with an open heart and an open mind, you'll be a better person than you are today." I know all the other real estate companies, how they do it and what they do. When I saw the EXIT model I was sold. There was no other real estate company better and no other company that took care of their agents like EXIT.

The real estate industry has been very good to me. I built a double-digit million-dollar business as an individual agent and started building a team. When I was building my team I really started to understand the coaching/teaching aspect was really my passion. Selling real estate was fun and the money was wonderful but my passion really was developing other people. One of the things that I know for certain is that each person is built with this special spark, they're endowed and bestowed with this special gift. What we do with each one of our agents is trying to find that spark and internal element that we know is special. We pull away the layers/ego, ignite that spark, and watch them take off. Each of us has the ability to change the world around us; we build and develop leaders. It is very fulfilling to work with our real estate agents, help them develop as people, and watch them start to change the world around them.
