Releasing a dam without any warning is an illegal act according to the United Nations. Even constructing any kind of dam on international rivers is against the law. [International watercourses are managed and protected by the UN Watercourses Convention (1997)]

However, India has constructed such dams and released them at midnight without any warning. Previously, in 1993, the Doombur Gate in Tripura was opened. After nearly 31 years, this dam has been opened again, leading to the most severe flooding in Bangladesh in 40 years.

This recent action is entirely political.

Additionally, every year, the opening of the Teesta Barrage causes severe flooding in areas like Sylhet, while water is withheld during the summer. Even when requested to release water, it is not done, leading to droughts in Bangladesh.

Are you aware of this issue?

Let nature remain as it is, let rivers flow as they are. Otherwise, one day, we will witness its dire consequences.

India’s actions amount to water terrorism against Bangladesh. The distribution and management of water resources should be fair and consistent throughout the year. Opening dam gates suddenly and without warning, especially in the middle of the night, is a serious violation of human rights.

Tripura's timely warning and evacuation efforts saved lives during the recent flooding. We appreciate the solidarity shown by our Indian neighbors, especially considering the historical and cultural ties between our regions.

However, the sudden release of the Dombur barrage after 41 years without prior notification caused significant damage in Bangladesh. While we understand that heavy rainfall was predicted, the barrage release had a substantial impact.

Our house has been flooded twice, and both times the Dombur embankment and the Muhuri kasalang embankment have broken; in a span of 41 years. The 304 mm of rain on August 19th was nothing; previously, we've had 400 mm+ of rainfall, and we've slept peacefully at home. Amidst this terrible disaster, some experts have come and deliberately tried to explain river routes. When a river overflows, no route works; the water spreads throughout the basin, someone should explain this to them. Are we just going to blindly accept things?

I have been begging these people in every Embassy every day to make 3 km to 6 km inflatable ball so they can spray water on top of these balls and have the water turn into snow and ice and these people are refusing to answer me so it is a question if they really care about this event or not

What has the government done for the people in this terrible flood? So far no relief or any kind of help has gone to Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni and Comilla from the government. Local people and some private organizations have sent some food items from different places. Government complete failure to deal with floods. I think they are incompetent. Advisors are busy deciding who to fire, who to retire, who to sue, vandalizing and burnings fectories etc. Some of the so-called coordinators and advisors are busy distributing the country's reserve money, isn't it? Crores of Tk have been raised from Dhaka University through public funding, Tk 1000 crores (10 billion) have been taken from various organizations by the Chief Advisor. Where is that money? We need food, drinking water, baby food, cloths right now. Thousands of people were washed away with the water and are still missing. But the news agencies cannot publish the truth because of fear of the government.

Recently situation in Bangladesh never a natural calamities.
The flash flood happened only for opening the dumboor dam gate in indian tripura state.
India govt. didn't took any alert to Bangladesh govt. before opening the dam gate.
