I'm getting the classic boost based on the review. Thanks again Ed!

Interested in putting one of these in front of my pedal board, it really woke the sound up. But my favorite tone / sound of all, was that Lakin bass bypassing the pedals and flat through the a great tone.

This is a great objective review! Thank you.

Great sounding Boost pedals! The Clean boost sounds a bit enhanced and more air in the highs. The classic boost seems to have a more complex and apparent midrange grind that is very cool. I am guessing the clean boost might cut a little better in a band mix.

great demos! I'd say the clean boost would be more useful for a modern tone and the classic for an old school tone

I think the Classic boost shines with regular fingering, while the clean boost works better with slap

To put it simple, it seems the clean boost seems to pump more highs and the classic boost pumps the lows.

What's the recorded jazzy groove/song that comes in for 2 little segments near the end of the video?

sounds like the classic has some compression in it, noticed it particularly when you went to slap on the second bass. Is that the case or was that from post edit/mix?

Just how did you record this? Was it just one channel from a mic or DI, or a combination of the two?

Also if you did mic the cabinet how far was it in relation to the speaker(s)?

Ed PLEASE I need your help.  How do you know which pedals are capable of driving a poweramp?  Is the MXR M81 capable of this?  I can't seem to find this information anywhere.  I just wanna use a simple preamp pedal and a power amp to run my cabs.

Clean Boost for me but where's the Sonic one ?!

So would these be the equivalent of an EQ pedal, or an outboard preamp?

Nice presentation Ed. But that flat G about midway through is killing me.

Well there might be a very subtle difference between those pedals, but in my humble opinion it's not worth making two seperate pedals. It will hardly make a difference in a band situation. At least I can't imagine someone playing through the clean boost and thinking "gee I'm glad I didn't get that classic boost...that thing would sound like shit right now"..

It does seem like the classic is better for a more all-round tone. Clean is a little too crisp and sharp for my tastes, at least for fingerstyle. Slap sounds better through clean though, IMO. Still, very similar.

I never understood these boost pedals. I can get these sounds without pedals.
You only need a good bass.
