"Quotations From Chairman Mao Tse-Tung", also known as "The Little Red Book", is a propaganda work commissioned by Chairman Mao in support of his cult of personality during the Chinese Communist Revolution. It consists of alleged quotations from his various speeches, other writings, and/or purported private conversations with high party officials who are cited as the source to give legitimacy to certain quotations, and other sources, which seek to help the reader in understanding the philosophy and beliefs of their dictator, in order to better embody them in their actions. As the years of his reign progressed, and more publicly accessible material became available, new editions were published that incorporated more quotations, to expound on the great leader's thought in various areas with respect to guiding the ship of state, as well as other matters deemed to be of import for his followers to be made aware.
