Sunder (Govinda) comes from his village to the big city and finds it difficult to adjust with the society people around him. While struggling hard to get settled in city he accidently befriends an NRI, Payal Khurana (Rani Mukerji). Payal was undertaking classical dance training where she had to understand the expressions of mentally challenged people and learn how do they convey their emotions through their expressions. Payal is under the impression that Sunder is deaf and mute. She genuinely helps the boy out and takes him to Dr. S. Puri (Om Puri) to assist him get his voice back. Sunder keeps mum as he realizes that he is in love with Payal. Will Payal understand Sunder's love for her?
