The Jimmy Lovers are just blind. Just because he was playing some of HIS best doesn't mean that it was great. The best thing he was doing was that he didn't have the typical backbreaking turnovers that have plagued him. Jimmy limited the offense with his lack of athleticism and he needed to be in shotgun so that he didn't turn his back to the defense. 

Purdy has stepped in and is doing everything what Kyle wants to do - pre-snap motion that is play under center, run play action, rollout and move the pocket, bringing back more pre-snap motion. Purdy looks so much more steady and doesn't get happy feet or panicked when the heat is turned up. It's going to be interesting to see how his journey plays out, but the battle between Trey and Purdy for the starting job is going to be interesting. Trey has a higher ceiling athletically but needs to accelerate his development (one thing that this regime hasn't proven they can do) and Purdy is a more athletic and confident game manager and distributor.
