Today is August 17, 2021. I am getting back into the cake business. I made endless dozens of wedding and party cakes years ago using the now OLD Duncan Hines mixes and they were incredible. The NEW DH mixes are short mix so what I used to fill a 2 x 10 round needs more batter today. I don't like the taste either so I followed someone's HACK recipe: 5 eggs, 1 c milk, half cup of butter and was beyond disappointed. Cakes came out very dense and dry. Maybe I need to add the pudding mix which I'll do tomorrow since I am baking for a farmers market on Thursday...plus, I'll add some vanilla...hope this makes ME happy because I'm not one to offer customers 2nd rate junk....
