Easy Origami Masu Box Tutorial - Easiest Method - Paper Kawaii

Learn how to make an easy origami masu box, using the easiest method. This method gives you the perfect origami box and saves time. Great for beginners.

I've made hundreds of origami masu boxes. A tiny change at the start makes assembling the box so much simpler. I'm sure that many people fold their masu box this way. But most tutorials have extra steps and more creases making the box less attractive..

If you want to make a lid, you can simply make another masu box, but this time, don't fold the edges all the way to the center at 2:10 leave a gap of about 2mm on all edges. Your box will be a little bit wider.

▸ 1 sheet of square paper

Paper size example: 15 x 15 cm
Final model size: 5.3 x 5.3 cm

To get a box of a specific size, just triple the width.
For example, if you want a box that's 10 x 10 cm, you'd need paper that's 30 x 30 cm.

I am 72 years old and still like to learn new things but choose projects to challenge me mentally. Landed on some Origami YouTubes and am fascinated. I purchased a kid's origami kit but after making a few "childlike' items, and not really learning the craft from creases, I just threw them away. This tiny box is useful and love your style.I have placed so many items in the kitchen in them, even made larger boxes, placed clips etc in them. I use these kinds of folded boxes to organize my collection of Rubik's Cubes and similar puzzles (at least ones with a square-shaped base) and I figured out that the sheet size you want is about 2.825 times the measured length of the object you want to put in it. I just did four boxes for 5.7cm length cubic shaped puzzles with 16cm sheet size (that's a factory of 2.82) and they only very barely fit inside. You'll obviously also want to account for the sheet thickness, the paper I use is very thin and cheap note paper, more fancy paper would probably require a slightly bigger factor.
