The only things certain in life are death, taxes and YT comments saying you used the wrong battery. There's still ones even here! It makes us love air tools more

Great video and this shows what irks me about DeWalt and the games they play between Lowe’s and Home Depot. It only confuses both the average consumer and pros alike, and quite frankly makes it hard to price match (which I’m sure is exactly what these home centers want!).
DeWalt need to have one….ONE top level, pro-line of tool and battery, whatever that may be. I get the whole reason for the Flex-volt 20/60 battery so you can power both your drill and miter saw. But give us one hammer drill that will perform at it’s best using either an XR or Flex-volt battery. That way the only choice the consumer has to make will be if they really need to pay extra for that 20/60 combo battery.
And bedsides….. is there any other tools other than the hammer drill that are called “Power Detect” and/or “Flexvolt Advantage” ?? No! (The same 887 impact drivers comes with either top-level combo kit).
Stop playing games DeWalt! And thank you MC for these videos!

The power detect has the most power when used with the new xr 8ah battery. That's what it was made for.

I don't remember you mentioning flexvolt advantage, but thank you for demonstrating

I bought the Power Detect because of your testing looks like its better. I'm really happy with its performance.

Love your channel. Thank you for doing this comparison. With all the different lines that DeWalt is offering now, this type of testing that you share helps a lot when making a purchase decision.

Great demonstration. You changed my perspective on it, but now I want to know more of why and how.

With the 8ah battery that DCD998 is damn near unstoppable 👍

I Have a DeWalt power detect hammer drill and I use 6 amp hour flexvolt batteries. I drill through metal for work and I will say it does run a long long time. I have 3ah Batts and that's All I use for work in Steel fabrication.

Nice video! one thing, you'd better to do this test XR 8Ah or 10ah vs FLEXVOLT 9Ah. The reason why is FLEXVOLT 6ah (both new = gray and old =balck)is still 18650 not 21700.
XR 6ah = 21700 x 10pcs vs FLEXVOLT 5ah 18650 x 15pcs. Thanks!

Agree with Antonio. Dewalt messed this up. You pay almost 300.00 for flex volt and you get a battery pack thats 18650. You by power detect at the same price you get a battery pack with 21700.

Hard to find good tool reviews… well done!

You need to use the 8 ah battery on the power detect in your reviews, it was specifically designed to use the 8 ah battery! That has been my frustration with your videos, other than that love the channel.

I think you should test a flexvolt battery that has 21700 cells like the 9ah or the 12ah @Man Caver Tools

21700 cells always dominate over 18650 cells good Video on dis proving to a degree the flexvolt advantage tool has to use a flexvolt battery @Man Caver Tools

So should invest in Flexvolt Advantage or Power Detect tools? The PD was able to finish the bore with the FA battery when the FA drill couldn't. Wonder if this holds through their circ saws

Based on all the different videos I have seen about the 998 and the 999 I would surmise that they are both the same tool just a different label. I'd love to see a comparison of the two with a 6ah 21700 battery, a 6ah flexvolt battery and an 8ah 21700 battery used on both and compare the results. I'd be willing to bet they'll have the exact same performance.
