For quite a few years at this point, we’ve put out our list of the best Chromebooks released in that calendar year. While that is useful information for sure, the situation here at the end of 2022 is a bit different than it was in years prior. Though we’ve moved on from the pandemic in many ways, the residual effects still linger, and that has made the Chromebook market a very interesting thing at this point in the story.

There are devices we expected to be released by now that have not shown up, and at the same time, we’ve also arrived at a point in the Chromebook ecosystem where last year’s devices are still really awesome, really discounted, and still on our favorites list. So this year, we’re shaking up our list a bit and simply giving you our 12 favorite Chromebooks you can go out and buy right now at the end of 2022, regardless of their release date. I love off a Chromebook! Especially for travelling! I own a digital marketing agency and being about to just open up everything Google related in seconds. They just work so much quicker than my Windows Desktop despite costing well over £1, 000! They definitely have a place in the world ❤️

Hi Chrome Unboxed...I'm after a recommendation or 2 re what laptop or 2 in 1 to buy for my elderly 92yo mum who has short term memory impairment & therefore operating a device is regularly bewildering. I would like her to be able to open the internet search browser and search for a site as well as check her email on possibly a weekly basis. What device would be easiest in your opinion? Thanks, I was about to request this video! Unboxed is my go-to for all things Chromebook. I got my 1st 7/22 - spin 513 w/ a snapdragon ($160), but first did my research right here. I'm shocked at how robust the thing is. I'm a serial laptop killer and it's still alive.

Just got the 516 GE for $449 from Best Buy. It’s an absolute beast at this price. I love the keyboard and QHD display. I haven’t gamed yet, but video quality is really good

Love the Lenovo Duet 3. Bummer that I still can't get the Lenovo USI Pen 2 (so basically penless! Anybody got recommendations, it really is confusing what will work besides the official offering)! A bit concerning that these USI Pens are not compatible and have different versions. I thought the whole point of USI Pens were to be universally compatible and not have to worry about these issues we're having now. We still have the original Duet and love it, and love the fact that different USI Pens work with it (Penoval, etc). Seems like a bad precedent that those pens aren't compatible at all with the Duet 3. Hope new USI Pen specs don't come out every other year rendering previous versions obsolete/incompatible. At least with the S-Pen, the pen on my 2016 tablet still works w/today's Samsung tablets and vice versa.

Google needs to drastically improve the tablet experience on ChromeOS if they want more OEMs to keep pushing detachables. Right now it's a painful experience, with no pull to refresh, incredibly buggy keyboard, no touch keyboard for Linux apps, etc. It feels like Google has just completely ignored tablet mode completely.
