You're kind of wrong there. The 3rd book was split into 2 because of its long length. Also, this series has also gone into the 2nd part of the 3rd book, so overall it covers about 3/4's of A Storm of Swords, which pretty much equals the amount of the first 2 books due to it being about 30% longer.

Agreed - I preferred the subtle (no hint) of the massacre that was to come. As a book reader, it completely caught me off guard (and so did the resulting chapter with Arya and the way that it ended).

The reason why the Red Wedding was such an incredible scene in the book, was not only because of the death and the heartbreak, but because nobody was expecting it to be so profound despite the obvious hints.

The show did the scene justice, as it has most of the major scenes in the series so far

What I'd absolutely love to see in this episode is Littlefinger's reaction when he finds out about the red wedding, and that Catelyn has been murdered. We didn't get to see it in the books, but you could imagine it would crush him.

They are going to have to include parts of book 4 in the next season. I imagine they will introduce many of the Dornes and also start to highlight the Greyjoys a bit more.

Stannis vs Tywin. That would be a fight to remember. They are both such powerful authoritative characters, neither would take any shit!!!

This finale in my opinion was so epic just like the entire series, remember this season is based on the first half of the third book, the more amazing, even more, epic finale that so many people were expecting, will come next season.

Also, I think Joffrey had a slip up of some sort. When he was talking to Sansa in her wedding night, he said something about it doesn't matter which Lannister to put a baby in her. By saying that I think Joffrey unknowingly considers himself more of a Lannister rather than a Baratheon. And yet he still retains the name Baratheon because that's the only thing that keeps the crown on his head.

It's not about having the most shocking moment in tv history. It's about rushing to complete every character story arc into next season. Case and point Stannis: In the book, it is a mystery as to where Stannis will head next until it actually happens. In the show they rushed that sequence to end his story arc for the season but at the same time revealed where he is headed. Terrible scene.

I still don't think many people understood why Catelyn looked so frightened when the Rains of Castamere started playing. I doubt many people knew it was even a Lannister song.
