At this stage I would, and have, gone for the Sloppy Alumina and Pure Aluminum Ingot alternate recipes. They use less resources and space as well as cutting quartz and silica completely. I think these are one of the best alternate recipes.

Just gotta say me and some friends started up a new run of Satisfactory together and early into it one of them said "There's something I want to try that I saw online." and with out missing a beat I asked "Is it manifolds?" all three of us separately had seen Doc's shorts and had things we wanted to try from them. Thank you for these tutorials Doc

If you use sloppy alumina, electrode scrap and pure ingots, it's a simple and efficient build that requires no quartz (only a bit of crude oil). I managed to fit a 1200 scrap/minute factory in the 5x5 blueprint designer using these recipes.

I love how complicated this game gets and the reward you're receiving when finishing a factory just by using your calculations or tools from the internet and no tutorials.

I built a fluid buffer and filled it with water before setting up the first Refineries, fed the buffer into the system temporarily and then once it had warmed up and starting producing the Water byproduct I dismantled it. Helped get everything running faster and didn't have to setup and addition Water Extractors to Kickstart it

Looping the waste water back into the water input comes with the risk of the water extractors filling the pipes up first and causing the scrap refineries to back up. This caused me a lot of headaches as a newbie to aluminium. Solved it by using "priority pipe junctions", basically you want the waste water to be used first so that it is constantly drained out. Feed the "fresh" water from extractors into the pipe system from above the level of the waste water pipes, as machines will fill from "lower" pipes first before taking fluid from higher pipes. Bit tricky to explain but once I figured it out, no more waste water backup issues!

Just wanna say, started playing this last week. Already got your videos in my feed and they have helped so much. Your advice is so good in this game to help build a clean and productive factory!

This is super timely as I just hit aluminum last night and scratched my head on the best way to do this. I think the most annoying thing is getting the bauxite out of the woods.

Just got to Aluminium myself with a friend and this helped so much in building our first alu factory, thank you so much Doc and keep up the great work :D

This is a great solution for people who don't have alternate recipes yet and want to set something up before going hard drive hunting.

And be looking out for the Sloppy Alumina, Electro Scrap and Pure Aluminum Ingot alt recipes!. Sloppy/Pure lets you ditch the Silica, and Electro Scrap lets you replace coal with coke. What I like most about that is the polymer by product from Heavy Oil production (which is further processed into coke) can be refined into rubber for cooling systems!

I just used a blueprint for ingots and then casings and sheets, couldn't be happier. Though I did spend some time bringing the resources in a good looking way with supports way high above the terrain.

Honestly this isn't even complex compared to what it wants you to do for that space elevator level.

I have a sloppy alumina + elecrode aluminum scrap setup on the west coast. It takes in 1200 bauxite and 120 crude oil and outputs 2400 scrap. I plan on doing 1200 pure aluminum ingots after I finish my fuel power station up in the north of the map

Hey I just got there today! Great to see it summarized nicely, thanks Doc!

Don't forget to drop a valve on the original water input so that the looped back water waste is used and doesn't back up!

You can cut quartz out completely using the regular alumina solution recipe by using foundry's to get rid of the by product silica at 3 scrap: 2 ingot and turning the rest of the aluminum scrap into ingots at 2 scrap: 1 ingot using the smelter.

I recommend using the regular ingot recipe and cutting silica. Use what silica you can in a foundry or two, then use the Pure Aluminum alt recipe in smelters for the rest of the scrap. That cuts quartz while still getting more ingots than if you also used the Sloppy Aluminia alt recipe.

You need a valve on input from the water extractor or your byproduct pipe is going to back up.

I’m lazy and I just feed the water into Wet concrete Recipe and use it to feed my Depot and sink the rest. I got frustrated with water being too little or too much and had other things to worry about.

He doesn't go over the part that most people get stuck/frustrated on: the water bi-product. If you just follow these steps, your water line will get backed up and stop everything.
You can sink water in a round-about way by producing wet concrete and sink the concrete but there are ways to avoid having to do this, which should be the goal.
