Being low income in college was one of the worst experiences of my life so far. Financial stress and academic stress at the same time is exhausting.

I did this while in Denver and I was a doctorate level student….i have since changed programs and living better and cheaper.
Felt homeless and it was pointless....I don't advice big city living unless being in insane debt is your vibe.

Yeah, they should probably just get used to it. With the U.S. Government not funding College and Corporations causing Stagnant Wages for the last 50 years they are going to be doing this for a very long time, nice way to train them for the future.

If its coming from the university farm, that's fair. Honestly, the university farm's yields should be prioritized to students. At least 40% should be reserved for students. UCs have so much money & the tuition is high af.
My sister went to Davis. She worked 2 jobs & was a full time student. This was back in the 2000s. That was all just to afford rent & living. My dad paid tuition. I opted for a CSU because it was cheaper & i could stay home. Saved a ton of money. I graduated at 17 so i wasnt going to be able to get a job for my first year in college & my parents couldn't afford dorming for me. We don't qualify for financial aid either because my dad worked too much. I remember one dude from my class bragged that the school paid his dorm & everything because his family is "poor, " so he used his money to buy video games💀

A lot of these students move away from home without understanding their financial situation. Its better to go to a community college & work part-time to save up to go to a bigger university. Then maybe u just go to the pantry to get a few things but ur not seeing the pantry as a source for survival of life & death.

The food pantry is a good thing, tho. So much food gets wasted. You can't imagine how terrible i feel when i have to throw out a box of eggs because 2/12 are broken because of "company policy" at my work. I also try to switch out 1/12 broken eggs with other boxes so we don't have to waste so many eggs. Wish they'd let us put the eggs to the side to be repackaged for donations instead.

Students in California are sympathetic to state Communism. They shouldn't complain about food insecurity. It will be temporary until full Communism is implemented.

This is shameful this is the type of life people are forced to live just to live in or attend college in California.

Also, maybe the young people could value working, and mange money well while in college and then once they are married with jobs they should plan for their children’s college so they don’t have to endure the same hardships.
