I don't think people have enough respect for the simple brilliance of UFOs being portrayed as living creatures. I found that unique, horrifying, and Peele really went to town on the design and behaviors. This was scarier to me than any other UFO-based plotline. Shots of it in the air felt like they were being stalked by a predator. When it eats all those people is one of the most chilling sequences I've seen because it left so much to imagination. Peele took a UFO plot and turned into a creature feature.

I also think naming the alien jean jacket was to give emeralds character a second chance at taming a beast since her dad didn’t let her in her childhood, like OJ’s way of showing he trust her. That also brought back the eye to eye gesture that they used at the end.

When the blood rained on the house, that took the movie to another level for me. It perfectly raised the stakes. It creeped me out! Love this movie.

Not sure if this was intended, but to me the underside of the UFO sort of resembled the shape of the underside of a cowboy hat. In a scene with Jupe's wife, she places her cowboy hat on top of Jupe's head. Looking back on it, it felt like a foreshadowing of the UFO consuming him and the audience later on! I LOVED THIS FILM. Such a fun watch.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Fry's Electronics store with the UFO crashing into it. It's not only an homage to now-bankrupt Fry's, but to that specific location in Burbank, where all the studios are. For years, starting in the 90s, the entire industry would shop there for computers, hard drives, memory and other technology that's needed to make movies. They just recently closed all their locations. It's a kind goodbye to another lost era. I loved that detail.

The applause signs on the set kept going off after the tragedy. Pushes me to think about how obsessed we are to seeing tragedy first hand and often admiring/ celebrate it because we are so desensitized.

I love how Peele is expanding the Horror Genre. His movies require you to think and try to figure out what's going on...I'm complete bored with jump/scare stuff or the unkillable monster who, for no explained reason, just can't be stopped. I cannot remember the last movie like that where I wasn't yawning and rolling my eyes. Peele takes CHANCES, he doesn't hand you "Friday the 13th number 57" or "Halloween, the final, final, final, final, pen-ultimate final" or some BS. It's refreshing!

Since before the movie we got the credit for the company “monkey paw productions” I thought the opening gordys home incident was just a visual for that company. It hit me so hard when we met Jupe and got his flashbacks and I realized it was really a part of the movie.

The Oprah shot might also refer to the episode that featured the woman disfigured by a chimp, she's actually dressed almost exactly like the woman in the film.

When the kids pranked OJ I was spooked by the clucking sound which would later suggest they definitely knew something about the creature... they just didn't know enough to be afraid since their dad thought he could tame it.

No one has mentioned that the main character is literally named after one of the biggest social celeb spectacles of all time....

Can we talk about the cinematography of this film? Those night scenes were incredible.

The aliens were meant to look like the film cameras on set. They’re meant to signify how we’re always being watched whether it’s a camera or a higher being

One of my favorite parts of this movie is OJ's reaction to everything. His character reminds me how someone would react to these things, especially the barn scene.

I know a lot of people make the Angelical references to Jean Jackets ‘true’ form but it also reminded me of the official Air Force reports about flying saucers being written off as experimental weather balloons which is kind of what it looked like, and the ‘fast’ form which also look like pilot reports of flying discs, both from the heyday of UFO stories from the 1940’s-50’s.

The name jupiters claim might be a hint as to where the alien is from too. Jupiter is a gas giant, a class of planet generally thought to have cloudy atmospheres with slushy non-solid surfaces. The creature/ Jean Jacket may have hidden in clouds partly because that’s what it knew from its home planet.

Wait so nobody noticed the big metal scissors sitting on Jupes desk??? They are the same type of scissors from the movie Us. They were in a case but they were propped up facing the camera and not flat on the table which makes it seem like they definitely were put in there by Jordan.

Just my opinion, but to me I felt like the alien costumes that Jupe's kids wore were very reminiscent of the cameras used on the set of Gordy's Home, which further reinforces that inability for Jupe to detach himself from the trauma of what happened on set so many years ago. (You can see them at 1:47)
