Bosch 12 Inch Dual Bevel Glide Miter Saw - GCM12SD

The Bosch 12 inch dual bevel glide miter saw is one of the very best saws that I have ever used. There maybe only one better saw out there, but it is over double the price of the Bosch.

The glide miter mechanism gives you the feel and ability of a slide miter saw without the huge front to back working footprint. This allows you to work in tighter spaces. Plus it makes this a viable saw for the workshop.

One needed improvement would be (Bosch you listening?) a shadowline!

What a beast of a saw! The stand really sells me on it. Mobility is key to any great tool.

Nice review and walkthrough. I actually found mine in the dumpster at my job site. It works but the arm that the motor is attached to is broken so I’ll be looking for a new arm for it. Needs a blade guard too.

You say this Bosch Saw is good and I purchased it on your recommendation but, have you measured the deflection when using it. I’m curious to know if you like many other owners have the same problem. Set the saw at 90° and cut a 12 inch piece of wood. It may be 90° at the fence but it is never 90° at the end of the cut. I called Bosch several times and there is no adjustment for this. The arms have too much play or deflection. Let me know if you have the same problem
Thanks, Mitch

Excelent saw, however ibought the miter saw Dewalt DWS780 because the low price is very significant for my budget. Congratulations for this video. Best regards from México guys.

I have same saw for over 10 years now and could never get it adjusted square!!!

I thought I would let people know, the small holes in the base can be tapped with an m8 tap. M8 adjustable feet are plentiful and cheap, and make great leveling feet.

Damn Brian it looks like Jon is more excited about your new saw that you are lol ;-) That's one sweet saw I hope you have been enjoying it! I bet you have been loving having it on the gravity rise stand those things are the best, my Ridgid 10" table saw and 7" wet tile saw are both on stands like that and I love it makes them nice and easy to move!

The red 'locking' pin on the blade does not lock.. I have to hold it. Is that how it's supposed to work? Had to use an extension pipe on the hex wrench to get the blade bolt out.

Simple question for you.... if you had a choice between the GCM12SD and the DWS780, which would you go with? FYI, I don't see myself taking it out of my workshop. Thanks!

Can you cut 6" baseboard vertical against the fence and make miter cuts both ways?

Just got mine today. Fence is totally different now and so is the blade shroud. Any one else have newer one with these differences?

I feel like there should be more emphasis on the reason you get the SLIDE over the glide: the glide has a very short depth of cut on the right hand side of the blade.

The plus of back space is more a minus the the weight added for my liking.

I like the idea of using a chop saw for fine cutting (i. e. furniture). Have you checked the accuracy of it's angles (90 degrees especially)? I returned a Ryobi slider because getting a right angle was impossible - went with a standard DeWalt saw.
