Very, very informative with what the school is teaching; it's all beginning to make sense. To offset the colour tempt with the light emission (say daylight or moonlight), you simply adjust the White balance using more of the opposite colors to balance it out. If you are say shooting a daylight scene but it's too orange in color which is in succinct with a sunset, you would add more blue CTB's to it to change the color mood.

Thank you for making this video. I'm currently PAing for a show on location and was super confused about what the gels were doing.

My DP and utility are gonna be so happy now that I understand what they need when they are talking about more daylight or more interior. Seriously thank you!

Noyce n Toyt video Dave. Showing peeps what the shot looks like without the tip you're preaching is spot on man, you're training our eyes to know the difference.

Heck yeah I won! Great video. I will definitely be sharing with some of my crew members. I've seen other videos trying to explain the difference and it just gets confusing. Kudos!

Okay so this video appeared in suggestion, however,I am a subscriber and watched almost all of your videos .
Wanted to correct a bit and I don't know if someone already did. Kelvin is the absolute scale so there is no 'degree' in it, all the other scales are derived from Kelvin so they have the 'degree'. Like °C or °F.
Cheers. Thank you .

I'm fresh out of film school, and I've been on a couple of sets working as an AC, and I find your videos extremely useful. Just wanna say more power to you on the videos. Do you have any plans on making an episode about c-stands?

Helpful! Thanks. And now that I have LEDs in my house, nothing matches.

Key takeaway (lol) replace all practical lights in a house with a consistent bulb and fill your soft boxes with the same bulb

I didn't know what CTO really meant. I knew what people were talking about when they called for it, I just didn't know why it was called that. Seems obvious now... thanks.

HEY IMPORTANT QUESTION DO YOU HAVE A LINK FOR WHERE TO BUY THE TEAL AND ORANGE GEL

CTO is not 3200k tungsten and CTB is not 5600k daylight.
I know you want to simplify that but thats the best way to confuse people on set.

You successfully change the way I think :) I just looked outside, I'm living in Finland where the light during winter especially is much bluer do to the fact the we are so close to the north pole. Is there a way to measure approximately the light temperature other than with a light meter?

When color correcting either way, should you re-white balance once the gels are on?
