This tutorial explains how to add a gradient to live, editable text in Adobe Illustrator 2021. In the past you may have been converting the text to outlines and then adding the gradient, however, this then makes the text uneditable. With this method, your text will remain live and editable.

You will need the Appearance and gradient windows open for this tutorial. Shortcuts for Text is T.

unfortunatly for me, when i remove the fill colour it shows in my appearance window as fill no colour and does not allow me to delete or add a new fill colour -.-
