HOT WHEELS HALF MILE “KING OF THE HILL”

Race Day! The picks are in for the first ever Half mile King Of The Hill Hot Wheels Drag Race! 60 cars will compete in today’s event. A 1/64th scale 1/2 mile, that’s a little over 41 ft. speedometers at the end will calculate trap speeds. 1 car will be crowned King of the 1/2 mile. Let’s see who takes it!

Counting only the fastest Trap Speed, the top 3 is this:
1.- Corvette Grand Sport, 369 mph
2.- Ferrari 599 GTB, 357 mph
3.- Aston Martin DBS, 355 mph

Aston was too inconsistant, raging all the way from 320 to 350 mph, the Ferrari was consistently faster than it, but in the end, the Corvette was just way too fast

Wonderful racing. A real sense of occasion with engine sound effects and play by play commentary. Reminds me of being a kid in 1969, getting together with friends, pooling our tracks, building a long distance drag strip and racing redlines all afternoon, outdoors in the sunshine. Good times.

I had a hillside track ten years ago. To scale, the cars would be moving at 500 mph and some would flip for no apparent reason. I sense it was just like any full-sized racecar. Fascinating stuff!

The reason why the Lamborghinis couldn't get to the finish is because of their long and low front (this applies to all cars with long and low front bumpers). It gets caught on the transition at the end of the drop, scrubbing off their speed and momentum.
