Father Phil really was a classical cad or dandy straight out of Russian literature, charming his way into the households of the wives of warlords (basically) for fine food, fine drink, fine entertainments and to have his ego stroked by female attention.

The father was a creep, but let's be honest: Carmela only called him out bc she got jealous af she wasn't the only one.

One of the things I have always loved about the Sopranos is that no matter how tense situation could be, they always infuse humor. For example, Phil taking that DVD at the end was classic.

Notice too, he asks her to carry the groceries for her, but then has her unload them all. She offers him coffee but he upgrades to liquor. He says he’s coming in to check on how they’re doing but doesn’t actually offer anything. Subtle things pile together along with the more standout points

That "and it's all tied up in food somehow" line makes me smile. Sometimes you get the basic jist of what somebody is about, but can't quite put the full puzzle together, although alot of the pieces are there. Carmela has her own problems and motivations, but I think the discovery with the other woman just brought some clarity to the situation, and she ended up offering something of spiritual counseling to her spiritual counselor. He walks away from it.

She has such sound sense while judging others, and struggles so hard to stick to her big lie while thinking about her own condition.

one of my favorite Carmella moments. I also loved when she and her pal were wandering around Paris looking at tourist maps and suddenly realized that they were in one of the loveliest spots in the universe.
