The best compact flagship. - Samsung Galaxy S24 review

Why is that every year people talk about the flagships and the flagship killers, but not the middle options? Here is my argument for why you should consider the "base model flagships" and my brief Samsung Galaxy S24 review.

Please, alot of reviewers talk about the S24. But nobody remembers the middle child, the S24+. Which ironically recieved the most updates since last year in the whole lineup.

Once you are accustomed to fast charging, people tend to charge their phones when they need it.
A quick 5 mins here, another 10 mins there.

They exist in a weird price bracket. Most people just scale up to the pro or ultra if they are considering a high end phone. Budget minded peeps dont even consider high end phones, and when they do, they'll stick to the FE and Pixel A series.

The real 'No Brainer' is the S24 Plus.

Has a Quad HD+ Panel, 12GB RAM, 5000 MaH Battery [like 4900 MaH +] and a 6.6' Display.

Did I mention that the first three things are EXACTLY the same as with the S24 Ultra?

In my region, theres no Snapdragon chips in the S24 base and plus model, and I refuse to support Samsung's decision to stick to Exynos chips.

That's a easy answer and it's because consumers are smarter than YouTubers give them credit for take the pixel 8 pro and the pixel 8 for example. There's way more things the pixel 8 pro has over the pixel 8 that YouTubers just don't talk about but telling people that for $300 the pixel 8 is just as good as the pixel 8 pro is completely false! The pixel 8 is missing like 10 things over the pixel 8 pro. And the same goes for Samsung and the same goes for Apple! Consumers are either going to pick the flagship from the best brand, the second breast brand or the third best brand and everyone else is going to buy literally the most budget phone they can find! Those middle phones like the pixel 8 the s 24 plus and equivalent iPhones don't move the needle for these companies really. Especially when you consider that those aren't actually budget phones. They're kind of flagship phones in and of itself. Yes to me $1, 200 is the most I will ever spend on the phone. But I understand $800 is still a premium device to 80% of customers in the world. telling somebody to buy a $700 or $800 device and that's a budget. The consumers looking at you like you're crazy. Because to that consumer $300 to $400 is a budget phone. The second you start touching 500 you're not in budget anymore!

Would've been more interesting to talk about mid-tier phones today. Because prices has risen so much that is more viable for the user to get an older refurbished high-end than these ones, even many of today's mid-tier receive less updates than older high-end. These phones 6y ago where available starting at 180- 220€ but nowadays they are 350-400€ or more, supposedly because of inflation but reality is that the lowesr tiers are being abandoned because they are less profitable for brands

S24+ is the best smartphone overall in my opinion. But I'm in-love with the SPen so it has to be ultra for me.

Bought a base S24 a fortnight ago, had the s7, s9, note 9 and s21. Got amazing deals on all because they are not Ultra or pro. £570 for 256gb S24 off Ebay. Brand new unwanted upgrade box damaged was the only issue. I wanted the compact size and pretty much all of the budget phones are massive with the tiny bezels of the s24 and still a 6.2" display is amazing. I toyed with redmi 14 pro+ but not worth it when it has midrange specs and a curved display and poorer software support.

Hmm. I too had the same notion. But we have exynos chips here in our region, which is a bummer. So i made my plunge for the S23 Ultra for 875$ brand new when it was for sale the last month. I shifted to this from my iphone 11. So the performance jump was massive. And since the s23 ultra will be supported till 2028 (security patches) i am confidently good for the next 4 years. For me, deals like this is a no brainer. Great cameras. Grest display. Awesome battery life and performance. And the magical wand.
It has replaced my ipad mini (off to my children) as well as the kindle paperwhite (selling it) in most of the scenarios. So now instead of having 3-4 devices for my work. It boils down to just 2 - S23 ultra and the Macbook air m1. And if i am out and about. The ultra does it all for me without even breaking a sweat - a reliable pocketable camera, with a great note taking device as well as a sketch pad. A perfect handable reading digital device. Productivity beast. Ooo and yes 'a phone.'
Its basically an all in one device for me.

For me, storage is a huge factor so I'd either take the midrange with expandable storage, or if I had the money, would just go with the pro phones that have a whole ton of storage.
