In this video, you will learn about direct variation. Direct variation is the ratio of two quantities that is constant. In direct variation problems, you will be given two quantities, such as the values of two variables. Then, you will be asked to find the value of one of the quantities, when the value of the other is given. In order to find that value, you have to use the formula of direct variation, which is y=kx, in which y and x are the quantities and k is the constant of variation. the constant of variation is the ratio of variation between the quantities. Once you find the constant of variation, you can substitute into the formula and find the missing value.
