Could you not use sqlLite to save the data in a db on the device itself - would that not be preferable?

My firebase database is not updating when I add a post. Anyone know why this might be happening? The app is working perfectly fine, but when i go into the realtime database, it is empty. I have rewatched the video twice and looked at the github and still cant figure out what i did wrong. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Whenever I click on send, it shows that it sends the write a message box disappears and the app hangs and we can't do anything except closing the whole thing
