I bought 2 high density extruded polystyrene bee hives this year to try out next year, I would still make an outer shell like you did to even improve on the hives insulation traits. Great video as usual and great idea also!

Nice! Still debating if we should insulate ours or not. If I had to guess I'd say maybe 25% of the beeks I know in the area do any insulation. Our climate doesn't really require it but some people do anyway. It couldn't hurt I suppose.

Ever think about using the Apimaye beehive? would like to here your thoughts, vs your insulated ones. I commend your efforts for going the extra steps in insulating your hives, I've thought about building a bee house to help with the weather.

I am wondering what your thoughts are on these wraps now that you have 3 years of hindsight. If you were to build these again instead of your hives with built in insulation, what would you do differently?

Wonder if this prototype could be used to build a larger version for he/she shed ? Campers are made of this type of panel with resin or lamination on the outside. Do you think this would be rigid enough for some sort of folding shed for the summer and then fold away for the winter?

nice project and well done! Now you just need to dovetail a slot in the top of the insulation so you can slide a top piece of insulation that also holds everything in form when in use :)
