We absolutely love how this gift turned out, Xyla! Also, Ruth, Shawn, and Daisy did an amazing job with your gift!

I gotta hand it to you, both the acting and editing in the style of This Old Tony at the start was, hands down, one of the best executed imitations I’ve ever seen! 👏

I came here after watching Tony open it. His video was hilarious and he truly appreciated the time that it took to create these gifts. The wooden tool carrier is an especially nice touch. It really is functional and great looking.
And.. in his video we actually get to see his chin.. briefly.
So.. in a way.. the ToT crowd can than Xyla for her gift to ToT and that he was so overcome by it that he accidentally showed more than just a pair of hands. For a video all about hand tools. Christmas inspired irony!!!

Funny thing, a few years ago I watched TOT make a knife for Xyla and started watching this site. Minute ago I finished watching TOT make a gift for someone else and get sent back here to see what she made for him. Love both sites, channels, whatever the cool kids call it and it has been many years since I was a cool kid. Merry Christmas

Many years ago I worked in the sculpture dept. of an art school. You can cast a hand, face, or other body part without silicone or gel--just grease the skin with vaseline and do a two part plaster mold directly against the skin. It works very well and is incredibly detailed; every hair and pore is captured. When you do it this way, it's best to wait to remove it until the plaster starts to get hot so you know it will be strong enough not to break or spall when removing it. His hand was cast it two parts, sort of like the mother mold in your video. When the second half was done and it started to heat up, the subject said, ok, pop it off, and that's when they discovered there was no mold release between the plaster halves. As it heated up more and more, the guy started to panic, running around the room yelling, smashing his plaster covered hand on anything solid, trying to get it off. The plaster only gets warm on the outside, because the evaporating moisture cools it, but inside it really does get hot! Finally, a couple of us had to hold him still while the embarrassed mold maker broke it off with a hammer. No serious harm was done, but his hand was bright red. It was hilarious to all concerned in retrospect, but in another minute or two he would have been seriously burned.

I'm glad you clarified the purpose of the tool. LOL I busted out laughing.

I came here direct from TOT. I am so jealous of the hand hammer. It brings back memories of using a rubber hammer for a giant project for Chase. They renovated their building and chopped out the 2nd floor for a fancy lobby. The elevators had huge fascias above each opening. Each SS panel was 6'x4' x 3 panels. 800 pounds each. They had to be adjusted within 1/16'' vertically. 3 teams of 2 guys with rubber mallets pounding on each panel to get it perfectly in place. Each team had 6 openings to do. I still dream of pounding panels 30 years later.
Ironically they sold the building and are currently building a brand new skyscraper in midtown. It's going to be gigantic.

Those builds are exquisite! That OG Stanley color is spot on and brings back memories of all of the ones that belonged to my dad that I broke or lost as a kid. The handmmer is pretty damn cool and useful anytime you need to put your fist down. Those are some stellar gifts!

For foundry options, you may also consider reaching out to Universities with a Metallurgical Engineering program and an on campus foundry. You may have better luck than a commercial foundry.
