NEC CLASSIC MOTOR SHOW 2024 review

The variety of classic cars on show at the 2024 NEC Classic Motor Show was just incredible, packed into five halls. This event ran over three days in November 2024, I went on the Saturday (day two).
As classic car shows go, the Classic Motor Show 2024 was simply huge. In this video I spend the day walking the halls, in a bid to film as many of the cars on show at the NEC as possible. If I missed your favourite exhibits then I apologise!
There were so many classic cars on display that it's difficult to draw up a list of favourites. I was very taken with a late 1930s Sunbeam Talbot Sports Saloon for example, the Alvis stand was also very impressive. I had an interesting chat with the owner of a Jowett Javelin on their club stand. The A40 Farina Club stand was also very interesting, especially given that XOE 778, the ex-Pat Moss rally car, was on display, joining another Mk1 and a Mk2 Countryman.
Other highlights included a special-bodied Rover P4, a very "barn findy" Ford Consul Mk1 convertible, Volvo PV544 Duett, a pair of SAAB 95s (V4 & two-stroke), a celebration of the SAAB 900 Turbo 16S, Wolseley 25hp limousine, a line-up of 1920s Morris vans, Swallow Doretti and Triumph Italia (both TR based), a gathering of Morris Minor 1000000s, two Jaguar XJ40 estate concepts, an Autobianchi van, and so much more. If you love classic cars, then the NEC Classic Motor Show is well worth the visit - I recommend comfortable shoes, and bring a map of the stands so that you don't miss anything.
If you also attended the NEC Classic Motor Show 2024, or indeed exhibited, please pop a note in the comments and let me know what car (or van, motorcycle etc) really stood out for you.
As I always say with these show walkarounds, I try and feature a bit of everything but focus mainly on the older cars.
Thanks for watching!
FYI if you're not aware, the NEC is the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham.

An epic, comprehensive video RJ and I think the best coverage of the NEC on YouTube, I did have to watch it in 4 chunks which may impact your viewing stats. Some awesome machines there.I plan to visit the show sometime but at the moment that is just not possible because of commitments I have but I will go.

This guy's classic car videos/ commentaries are in a league of their own. He tells you things about all sorts of classics, including strange and generally unknown quirks/idiosyncrasies. His knowledge is unrivalled and conveyed accurately and succinctly! Well done sir....best on YouTube and beyond!

Crikey, nearly 3 hours - you're spoiling us! 😉

Feedback on the calendars, ordered one and it arrived at my door in Australia only 8 days later, excellent quality.😊

There is something about seeing your own car in other people's videos 😃, I have been trawling through videos to find out what people have been saying about her. The Anglia at 1:21:14, called Lizzie, is ours. She was first registered in 1956 and is the Anglia Delux, so has the chrome fittings, Delux dash and, most importantly, a heater (which was on full blast on the way home).

Great showing of the Vauxhall Victor club stand. It's the first year that the Victor club has ever had a stand at the NEC.

I took the '59 F-type. I did see you filming the car but I didn't say anything as you were filming. You have previously caught my V8 rover p6 on camera at the "off the rails" meet at the Crewe heritage centre as well as at Capesthorne hall 🙂

Thanks for posting this video! I don’t get a chance to see classic cars from England and Europe, living in the USA.

Great video. This event is high on my list and the restoration show. That means either 2 trips to the UK or one trip with a long stay.

Hi, thanks for this great video. The dark green mini van is definitely “Post Office Telephones” (They all were painted yellow eventually for H& S reasons) The holes in roof are for the ladder rack and we always had the tyre pressures painted above the wheel arch on all vehicles.

Wow, what an epic, and the most superb quality camera work and as expected knowlegeable narration on seemingly everything !.Must admit, the incredibly original Alvis Speed 20 and TD21 at 2h 14m are breathtakingly beautiful .Thanks for the treat Richard.

Yes an excellent show. I would have liked to have been there. I think the old Rovers were the best.

Some really beautiful cars. Like you I love the older ones. (I cant get excited about Fords from the 70s and 80s). I've not been able to go to this at the NEC for a couple of years. I really must make the effort next November.

I keep seeing things I missed! That Michellotti design 1:00;00 on the tr3-a platform was stunning. It looked like it was inspired by the Alvis TD-21. I think Triumph would have done very well with that. I guess it's really a GT, and they were going for sports car. But I'm disappointed because I might afford one of these, but probably not an Alvis, over here.

Thank you for showing regular motorcars and not only Ferraries, Porsches and Lambo's.
I really enjoyed the trip to France videos and I maybe see you at Retromobile in February.
Keep up the good work and kind regards, Taco Gold.

25:27 When I was born in 1966, my father had a red DKW 1000 S. That means the first car I have been in, as he me took my mother and me home from the clinic in this car. :-)
