This fix is easy to DIY at home do but you need to have steady hands to repair your iPhone.
If in doubt, do not do this yourself and take it to your nearest repair shop to do it for you.

This DIY howto video shows you how to change or replace the battery in your Apple iPhone 5S smartphone. This works for iPhone 5C too.

I have changed the battery before on my iPhone, that's why it's more easy to change it now. Reusing the original battery glue strips means that it's easier to remove the battery when you change it again later.

The old battery was starting to get weaker at about 70% of it's original capacity and I've decided not to wait until the battery lasts 2 hours again like before.

Also wanted to show you a better view of the important moments with macro video. :)

If this is the first time the battery is changes on you iPhone or new glue strips were installed before, you can pull the tab with the glue string (shown in video) to remove them or use the alternative method and not that it will be more difficult than it's shown here.
The original glue strips can be softened if you heat the back of the phone with a hair dryer or heat-gun.

You can do this easy fix or repair yourself.
It's the second time I do this, if I could do it, you can do it too!

If your iPhone has battery problems AND is still within the WARRANTY period, DO NOT OPEN IT.
Doing this voids your warranty. Take it to Apple to get it fixed!

Thank you so much!!! I ran your video through and through throughout the replacement on my 5S. Excellent video! A word to the wise... don't drop one of the screws. I did it - twice! Recommend you do it on a wide baking tray to catch anything you drop. You saved me about $1000, you're amazing.

First: this is the BEST video (and I watched them all several times). Secondly, I would add the following (in addition to the take your time
and lay out screws exactly as removed)... #1: MAGNETIZE your screwdrivers. This really helps to keep the screw on, and if they come off, they still stick to the side of the screwdriver... if you fail, remove, remagnetize and try again. #2: those two metal brackets are really hard to keep in place when reassembling. I found using painters tape to hold them down (while not covering the screw holes worked
wonders). That four-hole one at the top is very difficult... I taped down and installed screws in this order: top right toward corner, bottom right, bottom left, top left. I can't imagine trying to keep that plate down without the other screws secured. #3: I would not even try this without a heat gun. I used a professional one and still bent up the old battery. #4: don't have a cup of coffee like me before you do this... the last this you need are the shakes. Patience be with you.

Thank you for this video! It really helped. I watched several videos on changing the battery and also read many comments so I knew where the hard parts would be. This was the best video and I had it running as I did it. It was very well explained and it showed the procedure very well!Opening the case & removing the battery was the hardest. I did try to remove the sticky tape first before the battery but the tape broke and I did it exactly the way you said. Thanks again!
