Who was early enough to notice the mistake upload first? 👀😂

I love that Christopher was not entirely sure where Helm’s Deep was located. It lends a realism to understanding ancient civilizations and relics.

Maybe Minas Tirith or Arnor would be great videos like this one, 17:52 was a nice touch, but it was one more time that they made Theodens character less wise and more naive
Without a doubt this trilogy is greatest masterpiece in movie history and my favorite films of all time and altought Forth Eorlingas is one of the most badass scenes ever, Im sorry that they gave "Ride out with me" moment to Aragorn, when actually It was Theoden who basicly said I wont die like this, will you ride with me son of Arathorn....
Ralph Bakshi made that scene really cool....
And this has nothing to do with Bernard Hill, he nailed it

Do I dare say that this is one of the Top 3 Tolkien Channels?
Yes.

Always appreciate these carefully thought out videos on Tolkien's mythology. I'm too bloody stupid to be able to remember and piece it all together myself so these videos are great for information I want to have but can't get for myself. So well put together and easy to follow for people like me, thanks so much. Top tier channel, top tier content.

I see a lot of people saying jackson did King Theoden dirty.
But i actually disagree in the movie context.
Theoden dont have an army to defend helms deep.
He goes into "hiding" instead of searching for Eomer and his army.
Its all strategically made blunders.
If not for the elves intervention (i dont mind this either because they set up helms deep as doomed without support and there are no other great ways to have an epic elves vs orcs fight in movie 2 and 3) that was written in and exterminated so it made no difference later on made the siege even more epic :)

Another error. Gimli returned to Helm's Deep and founded a Dwarf colony in the caves, becoming the Lord of the Glittering Caves of Aglorond. As with the walls of Minas Tirith, I'm sure the repairs to the walls were accomplished with Dwarven help. Gimli's lordship and colonization of the caves were of necessity with both the permission of Gondor and Rohan, and lasted as did the repopulation of Kazad-dum well into the Fourth Age.

This isn't a location question, and pleaae pardon my ignorance, but have you done a video about the race of men who carved the stone Púkel-Men statues, whose remnant were the Wood-Woses, and whose ancestors or ancestors' close cousins in the First Age accompanied the people of Haleth into Beleriand?

Small mistake. Book v movie, but the truth is that Theoden never set out to man Helm's Deep. He had ridden out urgently to battle the orc army at the Fords of Isen, where his son had died only days before. By the time he arrived, it was too late, Erkenbrand and the army had been scattered, with Erkenbrand heading north, but the understanding was to try to get to Helm's Deep to regroup. So Gandalf peels off to get Erkenbrand and his army (" look for me on the morning of the fifth day"), and Theoden with his smaller emergency force (no women or children) ride to Helm's Deep and pick up dozens of stragglers. The orc army, also scattered, burning and looting as the fit takes them, are also regrouped and march in Helm's Deep, but they are further away, so Theoden makes it there first. They brought no extra provisions, but the caves are stocked high and can withstand a seige. And here are the people of the Westfold, not the folk of Edoras.

Otherwise, carry on.

Id like to see a video on the white towers that frodo references in the fellowship film when he is telling Sam that the elves are leaving middle earth....are these the towers of Lindon?

Dunharrow, pleaae, with only a touch about the Paths of the Dead.

One thing I dislike about the films is how the make Theoden look like a fool by going to Helm's Deep.

Edoras was not built for long sieges and Rohan would have fallen even sooner if they had stayed so Theoden made the smart call of heading to Helm's Deep.

It's a stunning battle sequence that still holds up

Great video but you forgot to mention the help of the Elves during the initial seige or was that only a Peter Jackson thing?

What would the Uruk hai have done with helms deep and the caves if they had won would they use it for them selves or leave it in ruins. On another note did any army’s of orcs trolls and goblins has attacked helms deep before the 10, 000 Uruk hai
