Price Gouging Legal in Minnesota

It’s definitely price gouging,” Bee Vang said after paying nearly double what she normally does for a bag of jasmine rice at a St. Paul market.

She paid it anyway.

“I purchased it anyway because I knew I couldn’t find rice anywhere else,” she said explaining she’d been driving all over town searching for a bag.

Vang and other Minnesotans are now learning during the national COVID-19 emergency they have very little in the way of consumer protection against price gouging.

She found it... And this is a PROBLEM!!!??? Literally the only reason she found it was because of the price and it was only double, not the 2K they were showing for other stuff. Is everyone blind to the obvious benefits of NOT having price controls?

I was taught in high school Economics that supply and demand drive prices.
The question is will Menards have to pay higher prices to restock?
When crude oil prices drop, gas stations have to sell the gas in their tanks at that lower price.
I'm interested to know the definition of "price gouging".

“I purchased it anyway because I knew I couldn’t find rice anywhere else, ”
The fact that you where able to buy a bag of rice in the first place show why price gauging is a good thing.
Economically illiterate people annoy me to hell.

A few bricks through a few windows should take care of this. We don't really need the government, although legislation is preferable.

That's just unconscionable. If Menards goes belly-up, I'd smile.
