What we all need to accept is that if humanity was is ever forced to deal with some sort of reset we'd scaveng metals before we ever tried to mine them from bedrock

"machine guided" can get straight lines on anything by setting up timber rails and making a jig. I don't claim this is how this item was machined, but a point about construction techniques nonetheless

As a granite worker/monument maker… yes we can do this by hand.
I’ve created similar on 12ft monuments.
Lots of times, can only use hand tools. 😊

As a sculptor I see this all very differently.. time and perseverance is what I believe created these amazing works!

I always refer to this box when people say they built ancient Egypt with bronze chisels and hammers. Changed a lot of minds. I also love the core samples that were found.

So, creating facets doesn't require an electro-mechanical device. It can be something as simple as movement arm stabilized by a simple, static A-frame. Simple devices like this are used in sharpening knives, and keeping a perfect angle of attack. In knife making and sharpening, the key is in how effective your abrasive is.

It could be a log A-frame, then a log movement arm driving in carbide rich sand (and water to lubricate) to abrade the surface.

This is an excerpt from Herodotus Histories. Talking about a stone chamber outside the temple of Athena in Egypt: “But what I admire most of his works is this: he brought from Elephantine a shrine made of one single block of stone; its transport took three years and two thousand men had the carriage of it, all of them pilots. This chamber is thirty-five feet long, twenty-three feet wide, thirteen feet high. [4] These are the external dimensions of the chamber which is made of one block; its internal dimensions are: thirty-one feet long, twenty feet wide, eight feet high. It stands at the entrance of the temple; [5] it was not dragged within (so they say) because while it was being drawn the chief builder complained aloud of the great expense of time and his loathing of the work, and Amasis taking this to heart would not let it be drawn further. Some also say that a man, one of those who heaved up the shrine, was crushed by it, and therefore it was not dragged within.”

The "boxes" on Elephantine Island are absolutely mind blowing. I mean yeah, the pyramids are cool, but there is SO MUCH Temples in India with some of the most amazing carvings, some containing 10's of thousands of them, there Gobekli Tepe (and a sister site I can't remember the name of), there's all the stuff popping up out of South America. Mind blowing and amazing!!!

I brought this up to my skeptical friend and he really said “how do we know someone didn’t drill that after power tools were invented”

The problem with his rotating tool theorie is there would be circular tooling marks, but there aren't the facets are perfectly smooth like the rest of the cuts

From a commercial stone mason who been doin it for 20 years I always say this stuff would be incredibly hard to do today with diamond tip chisels, blades, bits, power tools polishers etc. and our tech seem some stuff couldn’t do so it blows my mind more than average person, also weights of some stones couldn’t be picked with 4 modern cranes but they think some guys did it with leverage u can lift major weights with leverage and man power and apparatuses, but not the level at some of the stones I’ve seen

I legit thought that was Shane Gillis for a sec. Then, I had this daydream where Shane narrates megalithic building videos in his unique comedic fashion. I never realized I wanted something so badly.

I've seen evidence of saw marks in some stones. I saw one that got off track and was corrected. Exactly like a diamond wet saw we use to cut stone now. They had to have had technology.

Everyone who says they did it with a hammer and chisel just shows that rock will break using them but they never attempt to really make anything

And yet the minister of antiquities of Egypt claims the pyramids were built with stone chisels and wooden mallets
