Weird Features on a 10 Year Old Aston Martin Vantage
Показать описание
Let’s discuss some of the weird features on the previous generation Aston Martin V8 Vantage! This particular Vantage is a 2011 Aston Martin V8 Vantage finished in Tungsten Silver, and it is by far one of my favorite cars that we have in the fleet. Today, we’re going to go over some of the parts of the car that make it stand out from every other exotic sports car on the market.
First thing’s first I don’t feel like you can discuss anything on the Aston Martin without talking about the beautiful Swan Doors. Because the car sits so low to the ground, Aston Martin wanted to figure out an elegant way to ensure that the doors didn’t scrape on a curb when you open the door. With that, they came up with the concept for Swan Doors. It’s not quite as outlandish as a McLaren or Lamborghini, and it’s far from as noticeable as a Rolls-Royce’s coach doors, but it is a nice little detail with some practicality behind it.
Adding to the practicality of the 2011 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, there’s also the Aston Martin pen that is integrated into the dash/center console. This pen fits elegantly into the waterfall dash and is a clever place to store a pen. While I don’t think it’s necessarily makes sense to keep a pen holder right in the line of sight, I can at least appreciate that without knowing, you’d never realize it was there. It feels seamlessly into the interior design of the Aston Martin Vantage. It just doesn’t have too much purpose, though.
Moving forward, there’s the topic of Navigation. Now, Aston Martin have never been known to integrate a well-thought-out navigation system (until their later partnership with Mercedes). In fact, the navigation is so complex and incomprehensible, it has two modes that you can choose from when turning the car on. These include Easy Mode and Advanced Mode. So selecting a destination in your Aston Martin V8 Vantage is similar to the start of a new campaign in Halo. Hey, at least you have the option... The strange part is, though, there’s no difference in the two modes.
Next up, there’s the topic of the Aston Martin handbrake. Now, this handbrake method has been used by Aston Martin for years, and frankly, once you know how it works, it’s extremely easy. However, every time someone drives the car for the first time, they have no idea what’s going on. When it’s down, it’s on, but when it’s down it’s off. Try explaining that to someone who just wants to go for a spin. It makes little to no sense until you explain the purpose of it being that you can easily enter and exit the Vantage without scraping your leg on the parking brake.
Last, but certainly not least, there’s the completely over-the-top audio system by Bang & Olufsen. I’m all for a great speaker system, but this was a $7,000 on the Vantage back in 2011. It’s truly unbelievable, though. Music doesn’t sound like it’s being streamed from Spotify. Rather, it sounds as if it’s being played live with the acoustics wrapping around the passengers. It’s a phenomenal system, especially in such a small car. Add to that, the way the speaker rise from the dash is elegant and beautiful.
Thank you for watching this short on some of the strange features of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage from 2011. We hope you enjoyed learning a few little things about the Vantage - some commonly known and some not. Hopefully you found this video interesting.
