It was always a thing back in 1.8.9 alot of people use this in rod based modes, use a rod then switch to another slot to never lose durability

Closest thing I can think of is bugs in hypixel skyblock with sword swapping and such, but someone else mentioned (the name) already. Basically, it’s a less precise version where if you swap between two weapons the custom attributes of one will apply to the other. This is useful if you want to say use the ability of a weapon that gives high damage with an ability, on a weapon that has a high base damage value, as usually the former doesn’t have much damage. This was used to one tap/cheese bosses with millions of hp (cough cough voidgloom and inferno demon lord phase skipping) but that’s more specific to skyblock. Anyways, done with my ranting (I refuse to call it yapping, I’m not a dog.)

This is a really known bug, but instead its used to break shields in smp kits, or for more damage with maces, (its called sword swapping or sword disabling)

this is like common knoledge in the pvp community and u can use it on way more things such as shield disable, knockback and breach

You can also use a Godapple and normal food for this. Unless it got patched but people used to do this with food
