I have to admit that Bachmann has done an awesome job with these locomotives. Too bad that they dont make the rest of their locomotives and rolling stock with the same detail and realism. Great review. Dave

These most recent Amtrak units are the only Bachman made engine I will/have purchased. I am just now seeing the 301 black paint scheme which I think is very good looking. I just wish they made another road number in addition to the 301 for double head running. However the 301 seems to be the only one I can find. I do know the 44’s have a strobe feature that the 42 does not have equipped unfortunately.

Nice review! I got #300 and #301, and yes, they're beautiful. With how quickly Bachmann released these to coincide with Siemens delivering them to Amtrak, I'm hoping Bachmann also quickly delivers us a Phase VII model when Amtrak switches to that scheme.

These units are so amazing. It just stinks that they're so outrageously expensive. I had two units on preorder and only took home one. They're amazing but overpriced. 😬

Question . I just bought the sc44 charger, and the headlights have a blue hue just like the walkway lights. Does the black one have that same blue tint to the headlights? Or are they more the yellowish halogen color?

if the actual Siemens company had made these noses to look at" these things would be a much nicer replacement to the P42s. they look similar, but the nose/cab front just is meh.

Good review. Can the destination on the front be changed from Chicago to like Boston or something else?
