Apologists of all persuasions are human, and as humans they can make bad arguments at times. However all the historical arguments that I have heard skeptics make, have already been made and answered before over the centuries. Sometimes its just a matter of refreshing the real evidence for each new crop of skeptics that pop up. Most skeptics are not making an honest inquiry into the evidence but rather they are hunting for data to sustain a predetermined conclusion. An honest search for evidence will find that the historical reliability of the Scriptures has been validated by archeology and other ancient historical evidence.

No other book has been scrutinized and attacked like the Bible. Skeptics don't spend nearly as much of their time debating other religions and sacred books. But as the centuries have passed the Bible has shown itself to be the anvil which has broken each hammer of the skeptics. The story of the resurrection of Christ began 3 days later in Jerusalem where it occurred. Tacitus the ancient Roman historian records the crucifixion as a public historical event authorized by Pilate. The Roman and Jewish authorities opposed the story of Jesus' resurrection. Tacitus records how Nero used the cruelest methods to suppress it. The only thing the adversaries, critics, and skeptics needed to do to disprove the resurrection was to produce the dead body of Jesus which was crucified under jurisdiction of the governor Pilate. Do you not think that Nero asked the Judean officials for the body evidence needed to stop this "pernicious superstition?" The arguments of this new crop of skeptics are simply reworked arguments that have been made before.

If hypothetically I associate the Easter Bunny with real feelings and/or something that is real — peace, love, joy, a prayer answered — then I will argue that the Easter Bunny is real even when scholars and evidence prove the contrary. This is what gets in the way of a lot of gnosis. A lot of Christians will not listen to arguments that disprove Jesus as a Lord and Savior because they literally associate him with everything GOOD and things for which there is no dispute.

Yeah I don’t buy that James Charlesworth of all people didn’t know what Biola was. It’s one of the main evangelical Institute in the United States and Charlesworth is quite conservative on many issues.
