ALCo Vs EMD : Indian Railway Locomotives

Catch yet another ALCo versus EMD comparison between the
Twin WDG-3A 's (2 X 3300 HP) chugging ALCo's (American Locomotive Company ) versus a Single WDG-4 (4500 HP) EMD ( Electro-Motive Diesel ). Both the trains are of 24 Coaches each and captured exactly at the same location where the locomotives start to notch up belching out smoke moving at an average speed with in the station Block limit.

Interestingly both the trains were towed by the 'G- series' freight Locomotives WDG-3A / WDG-4 , which isn't their regular powers. So which one impressed you the most ?

12976 JAIPUR - MYSORE , SUPER FAST EXPRESS .

No comparison Buddy. The jumbo jet of the EMD, its brute power are fantastic. The Alco has its own charm--Chugging. As a railfan no discrimination.

the shaktis were literally toying with the load..but have to say....the WDG4 hunk impressed me...awesome acceleration!!!

Here is the adventage fron 2 strokes engine:less friction, , , , more efficience, , , more acceleration of the engine, , , better turbocharger response at low rpm, , , , one Emd =2 Alcos... but at high rpm, , , this difference is less, , , the Alcos at high rpm engine, , his efficiency is better..and less smoke, , , ,

Great acceleration by both
One WITH smoke -- ALCo
Other WITHOUT smoke -- EMD

Therefore EMD wins

alco;can able to smoke and chug 
emd:different sounds when arriving and departing can see smoke in some emd, s

EMD is a modern loco whereas ALCo is very old so EMD is best...

No contest Alco's are junk compared to EMD's. The proof is in the pudding just look at how many GP 9'S are in service today compared to RS 3'S.
