I think that being raised religious and having to deconstruct as an adult has caused much more depression and nihilism than if I had just been raised without religion. I’ve raised my children without religion and they have plenty of passion for life, and find meaning in all the things they do. They are well rounded, deeply kind and compassionate, talented, intelligent young men. I couldn’t be more proud of the people they’ve grown into. Watching them grow has been the greatest gift of my life. They have given me purpose. I still struggle with some of the ideas I was taught as a child. It’s a world shattering traumatizing experience to learn everything you’ve ever been taught is a lie.

A decade ago, I used to hatewatch your videos as a hyper-religious teenager. Suffice it to say, I’m a subscriber now and have been for a few years. Thanks for really staying true to yourself throughout the years! I never really knew what peace was until I walked away from the church. How many times do theists claim that a recently deceased person is now in a better place, that they are now with God. If they genuinely believed this then surely funerals should be a joyous occasion. The fact that similar to atheists they are sad at funerals is surely good evidence that it it is much more likely that theists deep down don't really believe in God and heaven.
